Cactus

My Mum has a heap of cactus plants and at this time of the year they are stunning!
I just wanted to share a few photos with you.

And the perfume? Amazing!!!
Do you guys have any cactus plants? We have a couple but ours don't even have any buds!
I, my friends, have a black thumb for sure!!!

The early bird catches the .....quilt top?

You all know that my Dad spoils me rotten right?
Well, a month or two ago when I went to visit him and my Mum he handed me a yellow envelope.
Guess what was inside???

A heap of charm packs. Not just any charm packs, these were Cosmo Cricket charm packs! They were a mix of Early Bird and Tailor Made.
How awesome is that for a pressie!?!
Yep, my Dad not only thought to get me fabric as a surprise gift but searched for one of my fav designers!!! Isn't he the bestest!!!
Why am I talking about these charms in the past tense?
They have now become a quilt top. A HUGE quilt top that I can't wait to quilt and cuddle.

Now I'll add Nick to the pic for a size reference.

( Nick is 44" tall)
I can't wait to get this one finished!!!
Thank you Dad!!!

Yep, a whole heap of "old" Tula, some Mendocino, some Summer in the City and a charm pack of Wee Play!!
I could've kissed him!
I am loving just looking at them at the moment, I'm not sure if I'll ever be able to undo those ribbons!

How bout you? Do you hold onto bundles and precuts cause they're too pretty?
A Big Thank You to my Dad for helping with this! Love you Dad!

What did you week look like last week?
Mine was pretty ace.
It looked kinda like this

Nearly finished a new dress. Just gotta do the hem and a few tweaks. Then there will be more pics to show.

I painted the chrome on this little mini rod for a very cute little fella.

Helped my Spunky fella rub back and polish his car ( gosh it's a big car!)

Then we decided to take it for a drive. Show it some sights.

Saturday morning I had a lovely morning with some friendly rats ( our sewing group) where I picked up my order of owls. Yes folks, that there are Full Moon Forest owls!! I am still doing a happy dance over that one!

This is what happens when you leave a boy and his Dad in the shed on their own! In case you can't guess, It's a spaceship
Very cute!!!
What's happening in your part of the world?

New family member

Our family is kinda large. Almost but not quite Brady Bunch status. Anyway, when the opportunity arose to add another member to our family, how could I say no?

Everyone, meet Mable. Mable meet everyone.
I am so excited!
She is going to be perfect with helping out with all of my dodgy dress sewing adventures!
Oh the fun we will have!
I don't have to clean up after her or cook for her. ( although, a couple of people have mentioned that she needs to put on a bit of weight first!)
Apparently, you have to adjust her to fit your measurements. Your measurements don't instantly adjust to fit her! Spewin!!
Anyway, I think she will be a bit of a super hero to me!

Slack? Me??? Maybe....

Apparently, being slack isn't a good enough excuse to not blog anymore! (thanks Linda!)
I can now do it from my phone so maybe I will be a tad bit more regular now. Or maybe not
So where do I begin...

I went to The Daylesford craft experience and had an awesome time!!! I can highly recommend it!! I think I came home with a bit of a girl crush on Kristen Doran (above). Her fabrics and patterns are amazing!
I also came home with a heap of goodies!! Yay!!
I reckon my "to do" list doubled after that day! So many new patterns and kits to get into and guess what!?! I haven't started any of them....yet!
Now, you are probably all still in a state of shock that I have actually blogged so I'll let you have a rest. I want to say a great big thank you to everyone who sent me lovely emails to check that I was ok! You all rock! I still have a couple to reply to, sorry!!!

Bloggers Quilt Festival!! Yay!!

I LOVE this time of year!
All the designers are coming up with new fabrics and patterns to release at Market AND there is the BLOGGERS QUILT FESTIVAL run by Amy over at Amys Creative Side!!! YAY!!!
I couldn't decide on which quilt to blog about, I have a few favs at the moment that i just love and have a story to go with them but I have decided to tell you about my Parisville Quilt.

I am absolutely hopeless about coming up with names for my quilts. They usually get named after either the pattern I use or the fabric I've chosen. How's that for exciting! ;)
Anyway, This fabric range so many amazing fabrics that each could be a feature fabric in any quilt. How do you showcase a range like that???
I decided to give "Sweet Garden" by Carolina Patchworks a go.

Not knowing how it was going to look, I thought I'd try the first block out to see what it would look like. You know those nerves you get when you first start cutting into your fat quarters? Argh!
Luckily, I loved that HUGE first block. so then I cut more fabric and kept sewing.
Bit by bit.

I know this is a "busy" quilt but I love it! I love the Purple sashings,

I love the faces peeking through, I love the size... Everything!

I would definitely recommend the pattern to anyway that wanted to give it a go. It was so much fun to make!
Thanks for stopping by!
I hope you are enjoying all of the gorgeous quilts through the festival!

Are you ready???

Market is just around the corner, I REALLY wish I was going but the next best thing has got to be THE BLOGGERS QUILT FESTIVAL that is run by Amys Creative side.
That was one of the main reasons that I started a blog!

So now, the clock is ticking....

I am not sure which quilt I want to finish for it!

Any suggestions???

Speaking of Amy, I want to send a big Thankyou to her for featuring me on her blog!
Thankyou to her and all of the lovely people who have stopped by to say G'day!

Sponsored Shopping Trips

You are all going to wish that you had my Dad as your own after you read this post!
It is no secret to my friends that my parents spoil me rotten.
well, my Dad actually takes notice when my Mum and I talk to him about sewing/quilting/patchwork.
He also takes notice when i plan a shopping trip with friends or if a sale is coming up.
So, He sponsors my sewing needs!
Without any asking from me, he gives me money that has direct orders to buy fabric!!!
I know, Awesome, Right?!!!
Well, over the last couple of months, here are my recent hauls from these sponsored shopping trips.

Started off with a trip to GJ's. My first trip to GJ's.
I must admit, I have a crush on that store!!!
I HAD to get some Parisville.

Then, On to Primitive Patches that same day.
LOVE Summer in the City!!!

And a bit of Cosmo Cricket just cause.
Fast forward just a couple of weeks, While my Dad was enjoying the company of my two ferals, Oops, I mean lovely Sons, I popped into Darn Cheap Fabrics.
This was also my first time there.( I don't get out much hey?)
Wowzers! Surprise surprise, They were Darn Cheap!

Nearly 6 metres of Fabric for $30. In Australian prices, that is UNHEARD of!
Major score there was 2.65 metres of Cosmo Cricket Cogsmo for $7.00 (That's pretty much 3 yards people!)
Then, My Local, Patchwork Passion was having a secret sale for their club members.
40% off all fabric! 25% off all notions. How is that for awesome!?!

I got the backing for my single girl quilt. Yay! Along with some other prints for a baby quilt I am starting real soon!

Yesterday was back to Primitive Patches for their annual sale.
25% off all fabric with a $5 per metre table.
It didn't help that I had planned to meet Rachal there. She IS a bad influence people!!! Be warned! ;)
I scored some backings, flights of fancy and Freshcut, Some Pop Parade, More Summer in the City and some more Cosmo Cricket but...

My Major score was this 1.4 metres of Summer in the City birds at 25% off!!!
Can you believe there is more!?!

My Mum bought me these dots which go perfectly with the purple in Tufted Tweets, so that quilt now has a back!
That's a heap of new fabric! I am still kinda in shock at it all!
This doesn't include the rolls of wadding and bolts of white that Dad buys for my Mum and me!
Can everyone say it with me.... SPOILT!
Sorry, the role of being his (only) Daughter is filled! :)
Love you Dad!

Sweet garden

Sweet garden by Kellis Pieces
Sweet garden a photo by Kellis Pieces on Flickr.

Well, The kiddos were kind enough to give me a quiet afternoon so I got some more blocks finished and put together. Yay!
I still have 3 blocks to add to the right hand side to make the overall shape of the quilt more square.
Hopefully they will feel as generous tomorrow!
