Aussie Aussie Aussie, Oi Oi Oi

Wow!
Organising a wedding is insane!!!
Because this is a positive only blog, That is all I am going to say about that! : )
My friend Kristie
recently did a blog post telling us how great Canada is. I totally believe her too! It is definitely in my top 3 places to visit!!!
Anyway, It made me think about Melbourne.

I think I take living in Australia for granted sometimes.
I do love this place.
There are heaps of "BIG" things everywhere! Whats not to love about that!?!

I love that Aussies give each other nicknames, many of which are longer than the original names! They usually end in an O.eg, Robbo, Wayno, Chambo,
We actually do call each other Mate and we really say G'day!
If you have ever seen the movie, The Castle. It is a glimpse into Aussie life for sure! Every one I know can relate to that movie! : )

I love that we pretty much have our own language, similar to English but not quite the same!
Australia is very laid back with pretty great weather too!
If anyone remembers the tourism adds from the 80's, yes, we do throw prawns on the Barbie!

Oh yeah, everyone has a Koala in their backyard!
Kidding! I think tourists see more Koalas than the locals do!
So....
Here's the part that you tell me what you love about where you live!
If you live in OZ then feel free to mention things that I have left out!!!

Awww, glad I got you thinking about home sweet home. I was pretty sure there was more to Melbourne than the "improving crime rate" :-) Love all the BIG STUFF!

My favorite part about living in Winnipeg is that there are 100,000 (!!) lakes in our province, and I am lucky enough to have a cottage on one of 'em. A big one, too- 40+km across, so even though I live about as inland as you can get, when I look out on the lake, I can't see the other side and it feels like the ocean! With no pesky sharks :-)

You got my fave thing about Australia- the chilled out / laid back atmosphere. With the weather a close second.

Sorry you had a stressful wedding planning week. Just remember, the big day is just around the corner so try to enjoy every moment all you can. And also remember that they're family and it's just because they LOVE YOU! (That's what I keep telling myself anyway!) Hugs!

Snap! I did a post on the Australian obsession with big things a while back. There's a big cigarette, a big pie and a Darwin stubbie as well. Those big things are everywhere!

Hi Kelli,
I live in Western Canada and we have big wide open spaces on the prairies where I live ( although I live in a large city called Edmonton- a million people in the Edmonton metropolitan area). We also have things that are large here- a big Ukranian Easter egg and a large Mundare sausage ring are among them.
I do hope you get a chance to visit Canada - you may want to come during Australia's winter when we are having summer. It is fall now and we have had a skiff of snow( it melted away for now) but it will return soon for a good long while.
Regards from Western Canada,
Anna
